Anti-trans “bathroom bill” to be Front and Center next session says state legislators

Warren Limmer Abigail WhelanLEXIE CANNES STATE OF TRANS — Is there a bathroom cop in your future? Although legislative efforts at enacting state bathroom bills in 2015 failed across the board, rumblings for 2016 have already begun.

Out of gate in Minnesota for a second try, state Sen. Warren Limmer: “. . . when you interview him [Caitlyn Jenner], he’s says, ‘Yes. I’m glad I’m now a quote-unquote woman but I still have the yearnings for women!’ And so think of that type of person, a young person who wants to play on a girls team because he thinks he is more likely going to be a woman in the future and he’s now going to share a locker room. . . . On a girls team and if Bruce Jenner still has yearnings for women… so would that young man who thinks he’s a girl in a girls’ locker room…”

“. . . [the] transgender issue is certainly going to be there front and center in the [Minn.] Senate as it is going to be in the House.”

Minnesota state Rep. Abigail Whelan:  “. . . You know, you have two kids who are going to school together from kindergarten. Now, maybe they are 10 years old and one’s a boy and one’s a girl and we’ll say one of them says, ‘You know what? I no longer feel like a boy. I want to be a girl. Well, now this little girl who was with this child for you know 5 to 6 years is going to the bathroom with him and unfortunately, you know, that girl goes home and says, ‘Mom, dad, I don’t understand’ You know, ‘so and so was a boy and is now a girl, like am I still a girl or am I a boy now? You as a parent have to deal with that and it just… unfortunately it raises a lot of scary questions.”

“. . . the long term effects for example of a transgender operation, when they do studies on it, the suicide rates for those folks increases 20 times.” (sic)

“. . . you know, we need to be praying about this for sure.”

There you have it folks: flat-out lies, fear mongering, made-up baloney and a bit of Jesus thrown in for good measure. With any luck at all, legislative efforts will fail in 2016 as they did in 2015. However, if the collective intelligence of YOUR state Republicans is dimmer than usual, a pat-down before peeing might be in your future until a judge decides the law needs a closer look.

FYI, studies show trans people have a 42% suicide attempt rate — this is generally BEFORE surgery, not AFTER surgery as claimed by Rep Whelan: https://lexiecannes.com/stats-on-transgender-discrimination-violence-and-suicide/

  1. I was just listening tonight to an interview with Christine Jorgensen from 1957 and she was asked about the bathroom issue and she said that the women loved to chat with her there. 🙂 It seems that this question has been around for a long, long time…Now is definitely the time for everyone to just get over it!! All that we ever want to do is just go to the bathroom and leave…Why can’t they ever understand that?

  2. Monica Roberts just informed me that the Governor of Minnesota is a Democrat and the Houses are split in Minnesota — any proposed bathroom bill in this state would most likely be DOA. There was also talk in another state, but I have no link to it.

  3. “. . . the long term effects for example of a transgender operation, when they do studies on it, the suicide rates for those folks increases 20 times.”
That’s strange, every survey that I have read shows exactly the opposite. One extremely large scal study which was done recently in the UK was quite specific about this.
    I quote:-
“Suicidal ideation and actual attempts reduced after transition, with 63% thinking
about or attempting suicide more before they transitioned and only 3% thinking
about or attempting suicide more post-transition. 7% found that this increased during
transition, which has implications for the support provided to those undergoing these
    processes.”

  4. There is no hope for dialogue with these fanatics. The good news is that the majority of everyone else doesn’t buy into this nonsense. In this way, they become their own worst enemy by alienating more and more people. The embers are still warm in the lunatic camp but at some point, the scales tip and others in the party start gathering more support by staying away from these issues and the rest will follow suit. I hope we see a day where support of bigotry is political suicide, like supporting slavery would be today.

  5. Abigail is afraid of “scary questions.” Well, yes, I suppose if she has no answers, then the questions must seem scary. I further suppose I should feel sympathy, at least pity and a modicum of compassion for her fear of the unknown and her utter lack of the desire to understand but, alas, I cannot. I just can’t find it in myself to feel sorry for human beings who constantly, consistently refuse to use their heads for anything except a mobile hat-rack.

Yes, Abigail, you need to pray. Pray really hard. Perhaps your God will finally grant you some goddamned common sense.

  6. I would think those exact kind of questions would be wonderful opening points for acceptance and understanding…

“How do you feel about being a girl?” “Do you feel like you would be more comfortable being with the boys?” “We will love you whatever you choose sweetheart!”

  7. Oh, just some stuff I got through Lexie…

Judy Chiasson, Ph.D., a Program Coordinator for Human Relations at the Los Angeles Unified School District:
“In the eight years that we’ve had our policy we’ve not had any problems. On the contrary, it has solved many problems. It’s a nonissue on our campuses. Our transgender students use the bathrooms for the same reasons as everybody else. They do their business, fix their hair and make-up, and gossip with friends.”

“So when we instituted this policy we had no idea how many students that this would effect. In 2011, we conducted a survey in conjunction with the YRBS, the Youth Risk Behavior Survey, and we learned that point-five percent of our students self-identified as transgender. In a district of our size, that’s about thirty-five-hundred students. We were shocked. We had no idea that we had that many transgender students.”

And of all the studies I can show, this one really does say it:
“The Gender Variant Phenomenon–A Developmental Review” Anne Vitale 2003
    http://www.avitale.com/developmentalreview.htm

“Physiological pressure is less obvious but most likely results from the inability of the individual’s body to produce sufficient cross-sex hormones. This becomes evident in the fact that within days or weeks of receiving cross-sex hormones, dysphoric individuals exhibit markedly lower anxiety. This procedure is so reliable that it is the second step in a the triadic treatment plan described in the Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association’s (HBIGDA) Standards of Care. (W. Meyer, et al.,2001). Hormonal treatment is considered both a verifier of gender dysphoria and a treatment. Further, as treatment continues, the resulting cross-sex feminization or masculinization typically reduces and eventually eliminates the anxiety entirely (W. Meyer, et al.,2001).”
“In general it can be said that the more the individual struggles to rid themselves of gender dysphoria by increasing social and physical investments in their assigned sex, the greater the generalized anxiety and the harder it becomes to restart life sexually reassigned. For those individuals who, despite all obstacles, can transition to a new gender role, it has been shown that gender transition that includes psychotherapy, hormonal therapy and–in most cases–gender reassignment surgery, significantly reduce and eventually eliminates the anxiety entirely.”

Part of the reason isn’t just the hormonally involved BSTc, but this little monster, which in female form looks like a Sherman tank compared to a male motor scooter:
“Sex differences in the neurokinin B system in the human infundibular nucleus.” 2012
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23019350

“Quantitative analysis demonstrated that the human NKB system exhibits a robust female-dominant sexual dimorphism in the INF. During the first years after birth, both sexes displayed a moderate and equivalent level of NKB immunoreactivity in the INF. The adult features emerged progressively around puberty until adulthood, where the female-dominant sex difference appeared and continued into old age. ***”In MtF transsexuals, a female-typical NKB immunoreactivity was observed.”*** Finally, in postmenopausal women, there was a significant increase in NKB immunoreactivity compared to premenopausal women.
    CONCLUSION:
Our results indicate that certain sex differences do not emerge until adulthood when activated by sex steroid hormones and the likely involvement of the human infundibular NKB system in the negative and positive feedback of estrogen on GnRH secretion.”

Yes, there’s nothing like MENOPAUSE starting at puberty…

  8. You know, i find it hard to think Abigail got elected with the way she talks, you know?

  9. I’ve read of studies that show surprisingly high suicide rates during HRT and post-op, but that’s probably because of continued societal disapproval and discrimination, and bad HRT given by ill-informed doctors. E.g. anti-androgens like spironolactone can have many bad side effects including mental. And you should not reduce your female hormones to post-menopausal levels! You want levels of a vibrant young adult!

  10. That one famous study that all the bigots quote? Find it, read it. According to it suicidal ideation LOWERS post SRS and hormones. It is 20 times the average for the CIS POPULATION. And the final conclusion is that they suspect that the high suicidal rates are due to harrasment, violence and discrimination and should not be seen as evidence that SRS is not effective.

Funny that they keep missing that part. Almost like the bigots intentionally try to look us bad in an attempt of hurting us.

  11. They just need someone to hate… logic and fact have absolutely nothing to do with bathroom bills or any of the other anti-trans legislation.

  12. Wallowing in the waves of mendacity…
