LEXIE CANNES STATE OF TRANS — Jazz Jennings, a now 14-year-old transgender teen who has appeared in this space a number of times, has not only landed a modeling gig with Johnson & Johnson, her reality show, aptly titled, “All That Jazz, is on track to air this summer.
Johnson & Johnson added Jazz to their #SeeTheRealMe campaign. According to USA Today, she tells of growing up transgender in a video for the campaign:
“I’ve always known who I am. “I was a girl trapped in a boy’s body. Growing up has been quite a struggle being transgender — especially in middle school . . . sometimes, I’ve even been called an ‘it.'”
According to The Huffington Post, Jazz says this about the campaign:
“It’s really amazing, as it helps many teen girls who are struggling, it helps them to find themselves and be true to who they are. I hope they can learn to be brave and not care what.”
Jazz’s reality show, “All That Jazz” is still on track and is scheduled to air this summer on TLC. It’s a bit early to comment on the show without viewing an episode, but at least some believe that Jazz will find critical success on a network not known for intelligent programming.
Trans Role Model Jazz Jennings has shown, with her activism, her book, modeling gig, Time magazine recognition, and now TV show, she has the stuff for success.
