A Texas lawmaker (GOP state Rep. Gilbert Pena) has filed a bill that would prohibit schools from allowing transgender students to use restrooms in accordance with their gender identity. . . .
Under Pena’s proposal, school districts would be required to adopt policies saying “only persons of the same biological sex may be present at the same time in any bathroom, locker room, or shower facility in a building owned by the district.” . . .
Pena’s bill is the third anti-transgender bathroom bill introduced in Texas this year. Two other proposals would make it a crime for transgender people to use restrooms or similar facilities in accordance with their gender identity. Last week, the Texas Department of Public Safety sent a warning to lawmakers after the author of those bills, GOP Rep. Debbie Riddle, allegedly received a glitter bomb in the mail.
The transgender bathroom bills are among at least 11 anti-LGBT measures that have been introduced in the current Texas Legislature.

(Original article Jan. 24, 2015:) You read that right. A bill filed by a Texas state legislator would make building managers who “repeatedly allow” a trans person to use the bathroom of their gender expression subject to a state jail felony — up to 2 years in jail and a maximum $10,000 fine.
If you’re transgender and caught in the wrong bathroom, it’ll only be a misdemeanor — up to 1 year in jail and maximum $4,000 fine.
According to a report in Towleroad, it was Republican state House Rep. Debbie Riddle who introduced the bill which says “the gender of an individual is the gender established at the individual’s birth or the gender established by the individual’s chromosomes.”

This is another in a string of ridiculous bathroom bills, each with a particular twist — in this case, the jailing of individuals who find themselves newly deputized as bathroom cops but unwilling to perform that duty.

If that passes, it will be repealed, or overridden by the Supreme Court. By its very nature, that quoted statement about chromosomes doesn’t address people who are intersex. In the long run, not to worry.

Sorry, I’m just getting really mad about this. Why does it even matter? We could have co-ed bathrooms and I would feel perfectly fine, they have stalls with locks in most bathrooms anyway! I just don’t understand the world view people have to think up such terrible ideas?

This is another attack by the bullies who think it’s they’re way or the highway. ENOUGH OF THIS, are there not more important issues than bathroom use to deal with? When are these people going to get it through their thick skulls that rapists, molesters, and perverts are NOT going to dress up to attack women in the restrooms. What’s even worse than the fact that “bathroom cops” are being proposed is that the L.G.B. community doesn’t seem to be overly concerned. I hope that I am wrong about that, but again the transgender community only seems to be welcome at the Pride parades and events. When it comes to transgender equality, everyone except those in the transgender community, are quiet. To everyone, straights and L.G.B. people, remember this; When one segment of society, group of people, or even one person is oppressed, we all are oppressed. As the poem said, “…No man is an island,…don’t ask for whom the bell tolls, It tolls for thee…”

This is total trash and bogus! How would that spaced out idiot like it if she was made to go into a space by force of law confining her to where it put her health (physical/mental/emotional), as well as her life in danger because of close minded spaced out idiots like herself.
Maybe she should be put in our (transgender,intersexed, transsexual) shoes and made to go where she was uncomfortable going because it was the wrong place. Dress her as a man and toss that idiot in the women’s bathroom and see how she feels.

Oh gee. I had SRS 40 yrs ago. My “private parts” look and work great, my husband loves it too . . . but . . . my labia droop a bit because, well, because I’m pushing 70. So is she or someone of her ilk going to determine that I’m not “real” because I look a teeny-tiny bit different? Does anyone in this silly country realize that ALL women look a little different down there, and some look a LOT different? And yes, what of intersex conditions? And what about lesbian women who look like guys (beards and all) and straight women that look like lesbians, or bi-women wearing business suits, or women dressed in Muslim garb, or just cis-gendered women who don’t pass and don’t care? LAWSUITS! Oh boy! I’d love to see her at this job, see the training course, see the first day on the job. WORK IT, Riddle.

I’ve stood behind and supported the protection of the LGBT community for a very long time, and I expect the same love and protection in return. I am transgender and I refuse to ever step foot into the men’s restroom. They will be raising the death toll of transgender people if this law gets passed. Assault, Rape, Humiliation and Murder will come to thousands.
Maybe we should lock her in the bathroom 24/7. That way she can be her own bathroom cop and we won’t have to deal with anymore of her nonsense.

Don’t you have Disabled Restrooms around Public places In Texas? we do here In Australia “Downunder”, even your American Conglomerates Downunder have to have them Installed to be able to run their businesses etc…… and Our Transgender are allowed to use them by law If someone wants to have a Whinge “Moan” about Transgenders using the Restrooms of their preferred Gender….. Since when did the sign that said “Women’s Bathroom” only, ever stop a really determined male who is so intent on assaulting a cisgendered female in the bathrooms? Or; may be we could all sit in the mens, and declare it to be a Transwomens bathroom. Or how about this… During the Next Houston Texans, or Dallas Football games, maybe us gals should just, throw the guys out of thier bathrooms, while we all fill the stalls, or we all pee in the Urinals, and when they’re all holding their kidneys because of the beer, we could put on our makeup… and walk out…..
