(Original Article:) Another Republican politician has appointed himself Bathroom Cop — this time it’s Kentucky state Sen. C.B. Embry Jr. The senator’s action was triggered by a Louisville, Kentucky high school’s adoption of a pro-transgender student access policy last year.
Embry has introduced legislation to divvy students up according to “biological sex” and forbid trans kid from using the bathroom that doesn’t match their ‘birth sex’. Trans kids would be limited to ‘single-stall’ restrooms.
Here’s the perverse twist: Embry proposes that each student “offended” by finding a trans person in their school bathroom will be entitled to $2,500 from the school.
There’s other ugliness in this legislation, including the senator’s insistence that his bill demands ’emergency’ legislative action, but the ridiculous idea that schools pay out money to “offended” kids makes Sen. Embry an automatic entry into the Transphobe Hall of Shame.

I was also disturbed to find out Embry served as a judge prior to becoming a member of the Kentucky state senate.

So this guy is effectively proposing setting up bounty hunters to stop trans kids having somewhere to relieve themselves and paying other kids to be offended by them?
The only thing that is more worrying than people like this gaining elected office is that there are people even more dumb who elect these halfwits to represent them.
The bigotry and ignorance of Kentucky State Senator C.B. Embry Jr, who introduced the absurd “Kentucky Student Privacy Act”, is inexcusable and highly offensive. Claiming that upon encountering a trans student in a sex-divided facility (like a bathroom) a CIS gendered individual should be entitled to monetary damages “for all psychological, emotional, and physical harm suffered” as well as attorney fees is ridiculous and utter nonsense. However, there is a very real possibility that Embry’s stupid, legislative diarrhea would actually put trans teens at risk as the bill encourages bullying and exclusion. Trans teens should not have more societal negativity hurled at them as they are especially susceptible to bullying, depression and suicide. Politicians should be introducing bills that encourage acceptance and inclusion rather than legislation that embraces callow bigotry and crass ignorance.
Agree. This bill puts more teens at risk for both harm and suicide.
I think we should turn this around on the lunatic below. I’ll report a trans girl, then another trans girl can report me, and ditto on down the line. Pretty soon everyone who is pre-op can have their surgeries paid for, and those of us who are post-op can have a little extra spending money.
