LEXIE CANNES STATE OF TRANS — Indianapolis (Indiana) Metro Police say a body found near a condo complex is that of trans woman Tajshon Sherman (aka Michelle Sherman, Ashley Sherman). She was found by police with severe head wounds. The police do not know if she was killed there or her body just dumped, but they have ruled the death a homicide.
The body was found by a police officer on patrol earlier this week. Police interviews with people living in the complex turned up no witnesses nor anyone that might have heard something.
This is pretty much all the facts we have at this writing.

The only redeeming feature of this is that the television report made no mention of her transgender status and simply referred to her as “a young woman”.
That is correct. I believe some of the other stations did not.
She went by the name Ashley
My thanks to you and the others that brought this to my attention. I updated the name.
FACT CHECK: TajShon Sherman referred to herself/himself as TajShon but felt most comfortable as Michelle, which closed friends and loved ones used. Ashley was another alias but Michelle was most endeared. While it’s easy to allow politics to dictate, this is a REAL PERSON. I spoke with the grandmother today. Trust me, she sees only her flesh and blood was murdered not pronouns. Having said that, she is devastated because the funeral home has given the family until November 3 to get the money together. Indiana doesn’t even recognize hate crimes or gay hate crimes so there is little help there. Please help the family with funeral expenses. You can donate at any Chase Bank under Tajshon “Michelle” Sherman Fund or at http://www.GoFundMe.com/gepap4. Show the world that life is worth more than $40, which is how much has currently been raised.
After the funeral, the family wants to honor the life and struggle by setting up a way to help others in similar shoes. Tajshon/Michelle was the 10th transgender murdered this year and died just one shy of the anniversary of the Matthew Shepard/James Byrd Hate Crime Law being enacted.
Send a message to the world that ALL life matters! Please donate to the burial fund!
Thank you. I made updates to the article.
