Minja KocisLEXIE CANNES STATE OF TRANS — Five years after the stabbing death of Belgrade trans woman Minja Kocis, a Serbian judge this month sentenced Ivica Mihajlovic to 35 years in prison. In addition, Novica Radosavljevic, Mihajlovic’s accomplice, got 8 years.

The murder occurred after Mihajlovic and Radosavljevic attempted to rob her in her apartment, Kocis fought back. Mihajlovic in turn, stabbed her in the heart twice and both men fled the scene with about $29 USD.

Although justice is a bit late in coming for Minja Kocis, it is gratifying to see the judge hand down this harsh sentence.

  1. 35 years? He would get life behind bars here. Good news anyway.
