LEXIE CANNES STATE OF TRANS — “So, ladies, if you happen to see a guy in a dress in the restaurant bathroom, you’ll know the bill passed and I voted NO!” wrote Maryland House Delegate Kathy Afzali in an email sent to her constituents. Afzali’s mocking of trans people is her way of trying to derail a trans rights bill in the Maryland House.
All Maryland House Republicans oppose the trans rights bill and they’re seeking ways to stop the bill, however the bill has passed two readings thus far mostly on a party line vote and the Democrats hold a sizable majority. Another hearing is scheduled for March 26.
More from Afzali as reported in MetroWeekly: “I am . . . unequivocally opposed to this bill, which doesn’t aim to end discrimination, but to normalize abnormal behavior.”
Meanwhile in California, a Christian anti-trans hate group, Pacific Justice Institute, is seeking a court order to compel the secretary of state to place their failed referendum to repeal the California students trans rights law on the ballot according to the Associated Press.
This group and it’s leader, Brad Dacus, gained notoriety when it was found they published a fake story about a criminal incident involving a trans student. The group was recently added to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s hate organization list.
Also in California, Gina Gleason, associated with Privacy For All Students and the Chico Calvary Chapel, petitioned the secretary of state on the same referendum, apparently separately, from the actions of Brad Dacus according to the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.

WHEN is the phrase liberty and justice for ALL in this country actually going to mean for ALL?
Is there a way to keep people like this from being elected? Yes, vote and be active in your local elections and in your community.
Exactly! 🙂
