Perseverance rewards transgender musician

namoli brennetTHE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — It was by happenstance I clicked on someone’s social media link to a music video. I’d never heard the artist’s name before and I’m always on the lookout for great music for my side gig programming music.

Right after the music started up, I was thinking, wow, this is pretty good, so I scrolled down to find out more about her — and as it turns out, she’s a trans musician! Namoli Brennet has been making music and touring for over a decade. She was among the Trans 100, and according friends, put on a pretty impressive performance there as well.

Knowing a thing or two about the indie music business, I know it’s really tough to make a go of it — competition is intense and buyers few. Keeping it up for over a decade, especially touring, deserves a tip of the hat by itself. Most importantly, her music is great, too.

While I’m not sure I’ll be able to program anything, she does belongs on everyone’s list of great transgender artists. And a great role model, too. Nice discovery I’d say.

“Thorn In Your Side”:

Tip of the hat to Valentina Simmons and Carrie Hirsch.

  1. Namoli is Amazing! Glad you found her.

  2. She is great. Seems very talented, nice melody, great words, and a cool video. I like it very much.

  3. I used to live in Tucson, and have met Namoli, love her music, and this article, but one thing i’d add, is that she belongs on everyone’s list of great artists. Period.

  4. Thanks for the comments everyone!

  5. We have been listening to her on Pandora at our business for over 2 years now. Namoli is awesome, our customers ask who that wonderful singer is and no one has ever questioned her gender… surprise surprise! I even have a great picture of her gracing my desktop!

  6. I’m trying to recall if I saw her perform at one of the trans conferences.
