Trans women found dead in the UK, Detroit

Jacqueline Cowdrey the argusTHE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — A UK trans woman was found dead in her home in Worthing, a town along the south coast of England last week on the 19th. The victim was identified as Jacqueline Cowdrey,  known to her family and friends as Jacqui.

The findings of an autopsy were inconclusive as to the cause but further tests are being carried out. A news reported stated two men were arrested however, they both made bail. Police say an argument may have taken place prior to Cowdrey’s death and they’re asking for the public’s help. Crimestoppers: 0800 555 111.

A trans woman murdered in Detroit remains unidentified after she was found in a trash can on November 8th.  She was a person of color. I was unable to find any updates on this murder.

However, Yvonne Siferd, of Equality Michigan, said this following the discovery of the victim’s body: “The undignified way in which her body was dumped speaks to the larger issue of antitransgender hostility in our society, and the vast amount of work we, as supporters of the LGBT communities, have in front of us. We know that transgender women of color are the most disproportionately affected by violence and hate against the LGBT communities, and this latest incident is a tragic reminder of that reality.”

These murders make the first two for the TDOR 2014 tally.
