LEXIE CANNES STATE OF TRANS — A Russian trans woman killed herself after losing her job because her boss feared being in violation of Putin’s ‘anti-trans/LGBT propaganda’ laws.
Dasha Shtern took her life a week after losing her job according to a report in Gay Star News.
Russian trans activist Masha Bast told GSN: “Vladimir Putin has created a system where there is no place for trans people, no place for people who are different. Dasha is a victim of Putin’s laws, and she is a victim of the indifference in Russian society.”
This outcome is by no means surprising. Research shows 55% of trans people who lose their jobs due to bias attempt suicide.
