THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — A very horrific and public transphobic rant was unleashed on a 16-year-old California trans kid who recently became her high school’s homecoming queen by Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association (AFA).
Fischer: He has a mental illness, he thinks he’s a girl and they elected him homecoming queen and the school officials allowed this charade to go on. That violates everything we know about gender, about sex, about genetics, about biology, about human health, about what mental health is, it violates every known standard of decency and normality in America.
There is a lot more, but I think this is enough to serve as a reminder we’ve a ways to go in ridding society of transphobic groups. Until they’re gone, I’ll continue monitoring them.

I take this as an oddly hopeful sign. The news here is Cassidy is homecoming queen. That’s the headline, the real story. The AFA is riding that to gain publicity for itself. Things have changed. It wasn’t that long ago that the AFA would be the main story, and Cassidy simply the reason for the AFA to speak out. I see a shift in power here. Although trans-hate is very powerful and prevalent, it is less so than in the past, even the recent past, and the haters are looking like the freaks and the trans folks are looking just like the decent people that we are.

I’m happy to say that this sort of comment is unheard of in the UK – indeed, if someone *did* come out with this mouthful transphobic abuse where I live, they’d probably be arrested, and quite rightly so. But I know exactly what the AFA stands for, and I’m glad that we have no equivalent. Maybe it’s just that we’re more secular over here … ? Graham, Good point! Fischer reminds me of his homophobic compatriot, “Chappie” Klingenschmitt. I saw an article recently, with a picture of Dana Beyer discussing ENDA with Chappie, in the halls of Congress; he looked a bit subdued. I met Dr. Beyer this summer while I was in D.C., and … she is NOT someone to trifle with! Just let Fischer try saying that nonsense to an adult, and see what happens.

The last guy that tried to do the transphobic abuse on me (actually, it was homophobic … but I guess he was a little confused because I was wearing a dress) ended up sitting in front of a police constable explaining his actions. He looked a mere shadow of his earlier belligerent and self-important persona. That’s the way to treat these people.

Bryan and his so called Family Association need to check out definitions of decency. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary refers to “polite, moral, and honest behavior and attitudes that show respect for other people” If the AFA can’t show politeness and respect for a teenager and her school, even if they disagree with her self-identification, how can they expect anyone to respect their views?
They’re losing the struggle and they’re lashing out from fear of a world that accepts a young trans* woman’s right to become a homecoming queen. I hope that vile outbursts like this drive even more people and their donations away from the AFA.

The man says “it violates everything we know…..”. He is not wrong in that. He simply doesn’t know enough. Ignorance in its purest form. Not only does he not know, in his fear he believes he does not want to know and does not need to know. His religion has taught him that he is right. His fear has taught him to reject all other options, because if he does not then he will have to take personal responsibility for his shortcomings and human failings (hate being second only to the fear itself). Men like this haven’t the balls necessary to carry the weight of personal responsibility so they let their “God” do the heavy lifting.
