THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — It was reported that nearly a thousand Turkish transgender people and their allies staged a protest march in Istanbul against the current conservative government last week.
The trans march is reportedly an annual event and it took place in Taksim Square a day after a larger political protest was put down by government forces. Signs carrying slogans such as ‘being transgender is not a disease’ were seen.

While this event was overshadowed by the larger anti-Turkish government protests that has dominated world media coverage in recent weeks, it is important to ensure that trans Turkish citizens voices are heard during this upheaval as well.
