Penn. school district to forbid graduation usage of transgender student’s name

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — This is the same school district that denied trans student Issak Wolfe a shot at running for prom king. In that earlier case, the principal changed Wolfe’s name on the official ballot and instead put his birth name down and listed it in the “prom queen” column. The district has since refused to back down from that decision.

Most recently, the Red Lion Area School District says Issak Wolfe will be addressed by his female birth name during the graduation ceremony, disappointing both Wolfe and the ACLU, who has stepped in on Wolfe’s behalf.

The ACLU of Pennsylvania’s Reggie Shuford: “There is absolutely no legitimate reason for the school to refuse to read Issak’s male name at graduation. Their failure to do so shows the same lack of sensitivity they exhibited during Issak’s attempt to run for prom king and knowingly mars what should be a happy occasion for Issak and his family.”

Wolfe plans to take his case to the next school board meeting, scheduled for May 16th.

This is a low blow. Issak is going to remember this marred graduation for the rest of his life.
