Hank Williams Jr: “We’ve got a Muslim president . . .”

Hank Williams Jr

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — Somehow I don’t think telling 8,500 people at the Iowa State Fair one heck of a whopper using an incendiary topic of like Muslim is entertainment. Maybe at a Rush Limbaugh rally. But at a state fair?

Williams: “We’ve got a Muslim president who hates farming, hates the military, hates the US and we hate him!”

Even Sen. John McCain was civilized enough to grab the microphone away from one of his bigoted supporter at a rally and set the record straight on Obama back in 2008. ‘Obama is a fine family man and not a Muslim,’ McCain said along these lines, leaving no doubt in the minds of those in attendance.

Last year after Williams criticized Obama on a television news program, ESPN dropped their usage of his music for the theme of “Monday Night Football” after 22 years. That’s a steady chunk of change to lose.

Hank Williams Jr. may have all the money he ever needs, but this disgraceful tarnishing of country music family legend has been pretty ugly to watch. Folks, we’re now looking at the bottom of a barrel.

  1. actually, Obama hasnt provided any proof he isnt muslim…we know he practiced it in Indonesia, what changed?

  2. The burden is on the person making the claim, not the other way around. If you’ve proof, link to it. Thank you.

  3. That was a seriously partisan view on what Williams said… Funny how when some “celebrities” like the leader of the Dixie Chicks said worse things about George Bush, that was “Freedom of Speech”, but when it is AGAINST Ms Cannes personal beliefs it’s a “disgraceful tarnishing of country music family legend has been pretty ugly to watch.”

    • J Starr, please limit your discussion to the topic, not the writer or unrelated matters. Is Hank Williams Jr’s statement true? Yes or no? What other celebrities said or did is irrelevent.

      ———

Although unrelated to the topic, the Dixie Chicks said:

“Just so you know, we’re on the good side with y’all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas.”

They’ve made it clear it’s their opinion and there are no misstatements of facts (Bush actually was from Texas).

Williams on the other hand, did not express an opinion, but rather stated as fact Obama was a Muslim (and other claims likely to be untrue as well). He told a lie.

    • the good ole double standard liberal two step

    • The Dixie Chicks incident was simply an expression of Natalie’s personal opinion….that she, in fact, was embarrassed to be from the same state as Dubya… and look what it did to their career. What Nugent and Williams are doing is spreading lies and hate speech about the leader of our Nation. Their IS a difference. What Nugent and Williams are doing is inciting hatred and violence against our President and there have been no repercussions whatsoever… it just gets written off as “freedom of speech”. Natalie Maines excercised her freedom of speech and she received death threats and had her career destroyed. What is wrong with this picture???

      • what Natalie did was disparage the united states while we were at war, and while she was in a foreign country.,….and apparently the listening audience was turned off byit…..let the masses decide what is prudent and not I say

        • Aren’t we still at war now? You’re contradicting yourself there. Either way, Williams made a claim that was factually incorrect. The Dixie Chicks did no such thing. We’ll have to agree to disagree and move on.

  4. Even if he is Muslim, whats the problem?

  5. What was the reaction from the 8,500 people who were there?

  6. What was the reactiop from the 8,500 people there?

  7. There was cheering. There was no reports of how the people who didn’t cheer responded.

  8. It’s Hank Williams Jr. & Ted Nugent. Who cares? That is the liberal equivalent of Julian Lennon & the lead singer from Flock of Seagulls spouting the same garbage. They are entitled to their own opinions. Myself, the anti military comments are always puzzling. Isn’t this the prez who brought down Bin Laden and a dozen more top Taliban leaders? Face it Neo Cons — you have a serious case of butt-hurt.

  9. Williams wasn’t stating his opinion. He made a claim. Hence a difference.

  10. They might as well call him a terrorist, because that’s really what they are trying to say.
