THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — The election is over and the Anchorage trans-LGB rights bill failed, however I feel the need to share this bit of information I discovered only after the election.

Opponents of  Anchorage’s Proposition 5, ran a series of cartoons dehumanizing trans people on television in an attempt to use fear to sway voters. Here’s an example:

From On Top Magazine: In the 30-second ad titled Daycare and released on Friday, an animated day care owner is forced to hire a “transvestite” as horrified parents look on. The cartoon “transvestite” is drawn to look like an unshaven, hairy chested man in a short pink dress. “If she hires him, she risks losing customers,” a female narrator is heard saying. “And if she refuses, she can be fined or imprisoned. Anchorage is already a tolerant city, vote no on Proposition 5,” she adds.

Jim Minnery, Chair of the No on 5 Campaign: Because proponents of Prop. 5 refused to provide a definition of  “transgendered identity” in their proposed law, it is very difficult to  determine just what a transgendered individual is or looks like.

The election is over, and this is one of the things that got buried under Jenna Talackova’s beauty pageant saga. We’ll get them next time.

  1. I can’t believe you didn’t know about these ads until now. I saw these weeks before the election.

  2. These kinds of ads are standard hate fodder for jerkhole hate groups like them.

It would have been so easy to run a single ad of our own, trashing their own. (Hell, USE Jenna as a perfect example!)

Wonder if she would have been willing to lend her voice and image to a campaign like that (seeing as Canada and Alaska are kinda neighbors)

“Hello, I am Jenna, a finalist in the Miss Universe Canada competition. Just a few weeks ago, I was nearly forced out of the competition, because I was born with a defect… ” *Silence* “A penis. That was corrected many years ago, but laws like XXX could put other women who aren’t as lucky as I have been at serious risk, or even mortal danger… Vote YES on XXX to protect women like me, born imperfect, but still women…”

  3. What trashy, spiteful advertisements, and how far of the mark of nearly every trans person I know. There are very few groups left who could be ridiculed in this way, openly.

  4. Here’s his Facebook page. I’d send him a message, but he is farking psycho scary. He’s sitting on a big, dead moose, and he’s holding a cannon.
