THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — UPDATED: In the aftermath of calling a college kid a “slut” on the air, Rush Limbaugh found
three four seven nine of his sponsors yanking their ads, including a 25-year association with mattress maker Sleep Train of Sacramento, California.
Sleep Train has been with Limbaugh since his early days in the radio business. Although people have tried to get them to pull support before, a massive tweet campaign over the “slut” incident finally prompted the company to pull support.
Sleep Train: “We are pulling our ads with Rush Limbaugh and appreciate the community’s feedback.”
Sleep Number: Recent comments by Rush Limbaugh do not align w/our values, so we made decision to immediately suspend all advertising on that program.
Quicken Loans:“Due to continued inflammatory comments . . . QL has suspended ads on Rush Limbaugh program.”
Carbonite CEO David Friend: “Mr. Limbaugh, with his highly personal attacks on Miss Fluke, overstepped any reasonable bounds of decency. Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show.”
ProFlowers Facebook page: “Mr. Limbaugh’s recent comments went beyond political discourse to a personal attack and do not reflect our values as a company. As such, ProFlowers has suspended advertising on the Rush Limbaugh radio program”
LegalZoom: “LegalZoom has decided to terminate all current and future advertising with ‘The Rush Limbaugh Show,’ effective immediately. Our company does not in any way support or endorse the recent comments of Mr. Limbaugh.” (From the NY Times)
Citrix Systems Inc: “We have listened to our customers & have decided to cease our advertising on The Rush Limbaugh Show immediately..”
America Online has dropped Rush.
TLC has dropped Rush.
UPDATE-1 March 3, 2012.- Rush apologizes: “My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir,” he wrote. “I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.”
From John McQuaid in Forbes: “The art of the non-apology apology is often crude: a condescending, second insult on top of the first, really. But you’ve got to hand it to Rush Limbaugh. He issued a non-apology apology that was much more finely crafted than what we usually get. But no less insulting to the poor woman he spent several days attacking and defaming, and to the intelligence of anyone who paid attention.” http://www.forbes.com/sites/johnmcquaid/2012/03/03/rush-limbaughs-non-apology-apology/

This is wonderful news…he has been way out of line for a long time…spreading hate…
Hopefully hes gone too far this time and will continue to be held accountable..

Let’s see . . . “kid” or “slut” . . . hmm . . . decisions, decisions.
She’s in college going for an advance degree.
maybe this is the beginning of the end of the hate mongers
From Carbonite CEO David Friend:
Over the past two days we have received a tremendous amount of feedback on Rush Limbaugh’s recent comments. I too am offended and very concerned about his comments. Limbaugh’s remarks have us rethinking our future use of talk radio.
We use more than 40 talk show hosts to help get the Carbonite message out to the public. The nature of talk radio is that from time to time listeners are offended by a host and ask that we pull our advertising. This goes for conservatives like Limbaugh and progressives like Stephanie Miller and Ed Shultz. We even get customers who demand that we pull the plug on NPR. As an advertiser, we do not have control over a show’s editorial content or what they say on air. Carbonite does not endorse the opinions of the shows or their hosts.
However, the outcry over Limbaugh is the worst we’ve ever seen. I have scheduled a face-to-face meeting next week with Limbaugh during which I will impress upon him that his comments were offensive to many of our customers and employees alike. Please know your voice has been heard and that we are taking this matter very seriously.
not enough…companies in situations like these need to take “immediate” action and not drag it on until the next week for a “conversation”… do these CEO’s even have business degrees because that is taught in business 101? Guess not!
Carbonite did yank their sponsorship instead of waiting until next week. See comment in the article.
Life Quotes responded with a question:
When did you last hear us on Rush?
WOW! Poor unprofessional and unacceptable response. Guess they don’t care if they lose customers and shows their support for bigots.
You’re right, they should have taken a stand on the matter.
I saw the list of sponsors who have pulled their sponsorship from the Rush Limbaugh show. Finally, these companies are putting their collective morals and ethics, above the dollars. Rush Limbaugh is a misogynist, destructive, loud mouth pig (my apologies to pigs everywhere) and he will only be stopped if the public and sponsors demand it. Maybe we have a moral conscience, after all. I will never buy or use a product that continues to sponsor this guy.
Good for you!
Hillsdale College in Michigan continues to support Rush Limbaugh by being his sponsor. It’s interesting that when you visit the college website their honor code is posted for Hillsdale students. This reads in part that Hillsdale students are honorable in conduct and respectful of the rights of others.
It’s a strange irony that the Hillsdale College president doesn’t also apply this to Rush Limbaugh, who tells millions of his radio listeners that a young female law student is a slut and a prostiitute, and then asks to see videos of her having sex. If Rush Limbaugh happened to be enrolled at Hillsdale College today as a male student, and said exactly the same thing on campus to a Hillsdale female student, what would the reaction of the Hillsdale students be and the schools faculty? Maybe one of the Hillsdale students can ask the president of the college why they believe Rush Limbaugh is above their own honor code, and deserves to continue sponsorship from Hillsdale College? They might also ask the college president to remove the honor code from their website if they don’t actually believe in it.
Thanks for your comments. Hillsdale College advertising on Rush makes no sense at all to me
Hillsdale College recently issued a statement on their advertising policy saying that they accepted Rush Limbaugh’s apologies over the weekend and on his Monday radio show.
Yes, Mr. Limbaugh has apologized a number of times since attacking Ms. Fluke. According to the schools website the college President, Larry Arnn, teaches courses on Aristotle at Hillsdale. Guess he forgot this quote:
“Bad men are full of repentance.” (Aristotle)
