Why should transgender people care about Bryan Fischer’s attack on Ellen DeGeneres?

Ellen DeGeneres

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — Because Bryan Fischer is a prominent breeder of hatred in our society through his radio program and his work with the notorious hate-group American Family Association. Here’s what he has to say about the teaming up of Ellen DeGeneres and JCPenney:

Fischer: “When a company with the visibility and reputation of JCPenney deliberately chooses as its representative someone who engages in a sexually abnormal lifestyle, it is not an insignificant thing.”

Sexually abnormal lifestyle? You mean like orgasms for women?

Fischer: “JCPenney’s choice will further lower the bar of what Americans consider sexually acceptable behavior.”

Peeking in our bedrooms now?

Fischer: “JCPenney is collaborating in the gradual desensitizing of America to sexually aberrant behavior.”

I would have like to have been in the JCPenney boardroom when that discussion was taking place.

Fisher: “A generation ago, virtually all Americans would have agreed that homosexual conduct violated cultural norms.”

Virtually all? Surely you didn’t think this lie would just slip by unnoticed.

Fischer: “Groups are already hard at work to normalize polygamy and even certain forms of pedophilia. It may not be long before those behaviors likewise receive some societal stamp of approval.”

FEAR! FEAR! FEAR! . . . wait a minute, what does this have to do with Ellen DeGeneres and JCPenney? . . . Oh, that’s right, nothing. Carry on . . . FEAR! FEAR! FEAR!

Fisher: “Will America’s young women be just a bit more likely to experiment with lesbianism now that JCPenney is mainstreaming it?”

Experiment? Sort of like creating Cold Fusion in a test tube? No.

Fischer:  “Research has indicated that lesbians suffer from increased levels of depression, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, breast cancer and vaginal diseases compared to heterosexual women.”

This is because lesbian women face higher discrimination than heterosexual women and are less likely to seek help. In other words its people like Bryan Fischer that is the cause for these conditions.

Thanks for reading.

From Wiki:

Bryan J. Fischer is the Director of Issues Analysis for the American Family Association (AFA). He hosts the talk radio program Focal Point on American Family Radio and posts on the AFA-run blog Rightly Concerned. . . . Fischer’s controversial comments on racial and ethnic minorities were cited by Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in explaining the hate group designation they gave to the AFA in November 2010.

  1. Even though I am post-transsexual I do not “identify as transgender”.

I think the whole mindset of identity politics is a loser position.

You either support the human rights and dignity of all or you don’t. End of freaking story.

Fascist Pseudo-Christians like those of the Religious Reich are bigots pure and simple. TS/TG L/G whatever. Do you really think it matters?

When these people start with the issuing of blood libels all the other targets of bigotry and racism need beware.

This is why an injury to one should be treated like an injury to all.

  2. I would like to address Fisher’s lie:

“A generation ago, virtually all Americans would have agreed that homosexual conduct violated cultural norms.”

I am 65 and in the 50″s my extended Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners had my Aunt’s brother and his husband at most of them.

  3. Lexie, I’m sorry. I read the whole piece, and this man is batshit crazy! But, he is attacking Lesbians and Ellen in particular. Where are transgender people mentioned? Although, I am sure we are in his crosshairs too!!

    • Hi Liz, I look at it this way, if this person can unload like that on someone who is arguably the world’s nicest lesbian, imagine what he’d say about a trans person.

It’s also my subtle way of keeping us all united against purveyors of hatred.

  4. I think part of the reason the fundies have their knickers in a twist over Ellen is that for the most part she’s pretty staid. She does not fit their stereotype of a lesbian (or any lgbtq individual for that matter) and is very family friendly. They know Ellen *will*, through no effort of her own, get people to be more open and accepting of queer folk. How are they going to do the whole divide and conquer (oh and fill the collection plates please) if people refuse to be divided?

  5. This guy is a simple, imbecile bigot, plain and simple. Fifty years ago a large percentage of the population thought that blacks and whites shouldn’t go to the same schools or use the same bathrooms. Just because some in society think their small-minded bigoted ideas are right, doesn’t make them so.
