THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — England and Wales is proposing measures to move transgender murders to hate-crime level resulting in far harsher prison terms for those convicted.This is according to justice secretary Kenneth Clarke who says it will bring it in line with other hate crimes such as race or sexual orientation.

Equalities minister, Lynne Featherstone, said the proposals include abating discrimination in access to public services, helping trans kids in schools and protecting the privacy of trans people — for instance making it illegal to have their trans status revealed at work.

From The Guardian-UK: “Featherstone said the first transgender equality plan was needed because statistics showed that 70% of children who were uncertain about their gender were subject to bullying. The official figures also show that 88% of transgender employees experienced discrimination or harassment at work, and that hate crime against transgender people had recently risen by 14% to 357 incidents last year.”
