THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — While these things are nothing new or shocking for people living in the trans community, I did appreciate that mainstream media is reporting on this danger. I thought I’d share a few things I found in the Reuters story written by Rebekah Curtis in London:

“In the first nine months of 2011, 116 transgender people were murdered globally, according to Trans Murder Monitoring (TMM), a project coordinated by non-profit association Transgender Europe. Their research indicates there have been at least 681 reports of murders in 50 countries since 2008.”

“Society needs to be made aware that atrocities such as the murder of trans folks are still happening all around the world.” –Eva-Genevieve Scarborough of Riverside, CA,

Executive director of Gender dynamiX, Liesl Theron: “Transgender people face the worst challenges, regardless of which country they are coming from or situated in. Usually trans people are on the fringes of society, and the most marginalized.”

  1. Very disheartening and very frightening! Never the less a person cannot live their life looking over their shoulder. Live life the beast you can, and protect yourself as best as you can and do the level best to protect yourself. Standing your ground in the face of adversity never looked so good.

  2. You’re quite right!
