LaWana Mayfield, running for Charlotte city council
THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — Voters in North Carolina are headed to a showdown of some sort. LaWana Mayfield is favored to beat her Republican opponent for a seat on the Charlotte city council while state voters will weigh in on the state assembly’s lack of action on pressing issues facing the state and instead spent the time to put the anti-gay constitutional amendment on the ballot. Opponents of the amendment say the measure was voted on without public comment — a procedure that ignored facts showing the majority of people in N.C. oppose the amendment.
